Dumpster Fire DEVO - Day 18

Day 18: The Inner Critic
By Pastor Casey Taylor

READ Exodus 3:11
When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, Moses’s immediate response was, “Who am I that I should go?” That inner critic was loud in his mind, making him question his ability, worth, and purpose. Many of us are familiar with that voice. Whether it’s self-doubt or fear, it’s easy to feel unqualified when God calls us to something big. But the truth is, God wasn’t focused on Moses’s flaws—He was focused on His own power to work through him.

We all struggle with an inner critic that tells us we aren’t good enough, smart enough, or capable enough. But just as God reminded Moses, “I will be with you,” we are reassured that it’s not about who we are, but about who God is.

REFLECT:
What does your inner critic often say to you? How can you silence that voice and trust God’s call for your life?

PRAY: Lord, quiet my inner critic. Help me trust in Your presence and believe that You will equip me for whatever You call me to do. Amen.
