Day 18: The One Thing Needed
Luke 10:42
Jesus tells Martha that Mary has discovered “the one thing most important” by choosing to sit at His feet. This "one thing" is echoed in Psalm 27:4: “One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.”
The one thing needed is a close, personal relationship with Jesus. Everything else can wait.
REFLECT
What is the one thing in your life that tends to distract you from Jesus? How can you refocus on the one thing needed?
PRAY
Jesus, help me to seek You above all else. Teach me to dwell in Your presence and gaze upon Your beauty. Amen.
