There is Still Room
Jesus is the guest of a prominent Pharisee in the community. But as they gather Jesus notices that so many are coming and vying for the best seats. The Pharisees are also watching Jesus carefully because it is the Sabbath and they ask him if it is right to heal on the Sabbath and he gives them an example by healing a man there. We must remember to show compassion and mercy all the time and begin to come to the table with humility and open the table to all who will come.
Jesus shares a parable with them about a Great Banquet (the Kingdom of God) and how those who had been invited made many lame excuses for not coming. So the man sent his servants to offer an invitation to all… and when they did there was still room. So he sends them further out because the master wants the banquet to be full! It is is his will for no one to miss the banquet… he wants his house and his table full.
What will we do to make sure the table is full?
Will we only invite those we think are deserving?
Who might that be?
Or will we just invite everyone with out reservation?
Oh the challenge is on.
